International Partnership
SALIS is a member of a number of international research associations including:
- The International Association for Translation and Intercultural Studies
- The International Association for Languages and Intercultural Communication
We are also engaged in various, collaborative research projects, including joint publication of books and journals, and joint supervision of PhD students with universities in Austria, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Estonia, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, the U.K. and the U.S.A.
Some current international engagements:
- JNU, New Dehli, India: Dr Maria Loftus is engaged in collaborative research on the use of smartphone technology to improve second language learning.
- Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil: Dr Sharon O’Brien is working with with Prof. Fabio Alves of UFMG on the use of eye tracking to measure usability of post-edited and raw MT output.
- Zurich Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaft (ZHAW), Switzerland: Dr Sharon O’Brien has been collaborating with Dr. Maureen Ehrensberger-Dow on a project investigating aspects of cognitive ergonomics of translators in the workplace.
