    About the Deputy President

    On July 31st 2020, the Governing Authority of Dublin City University approved the appointment of  Professor Anne Sinnott as the new Deputy President of the University. She succeeds Professor Daire Keogh who recently took up office as the new President of DCU.

    Professor Anne Sinnott is the Executive Dean at DCU Business School, having joined the faculty in 1985. Professor Sinnott holds a BA and Higher Diploma in Education from University College Dublin and an MBA and PhD from NUI, Galway. Prior to her appointment as Executive Dean in 2011, she held the post of Deputy Dean. Professor Sinnott has previously served as Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning, Head of the Marketing Group and Quality Project manager. She is a member of the Quality Promotion Board and is a Certified Quality Assessor. Her research interests include quality management, management of service businesses and customer service strategies.  

    The Chancellor of Dublin City University, Dr Martin McAleese, has welcomed the appointment of Professor Sinnott,

    “Not only is Professor Sinnott highly respected in her field, she has a proven track record in leadership and  has been a key driver of innovation and industry engagement as Executive Dean of the DCU Business School. On behalf of  Governing Authority I congratulate her and wish her every success in her new role.”

    Commenting on the appointment, President of DCU, Professor Daire Keogh said,

    “Professor Sinnott brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role of Deputy President. During her leadership of the DCU Business School, it has gained accreditation by the foremost global Business School accreditor AACSB. This major achievement has placed the School within the top 5% of the world's business schools and it was the second only Irish business school to achieve this accolade.

    “She is an advocate of gender equality issues and a leading figure in the university's Women in Leadership initiative. Professor Sinnott’s leadership was instrumental in the DCU Business School being named the top European Business School in 2017 for gender balance among faculty by the prestigious Financial Times ranking.

    “Professor Sinnott has also championed innovation in teaching, with DCU’s first year programme ‘Learning Innovation for Enterprise’ recognised among the world’s top 25 most innovative programmes in Business Education by AACSB’s 2020 ‘Innovations that Inspire’ awards.  I congratulate her on her appointment and look forward to working with her in the years ahead as we continue to set the standards for universities in terms of innovation, engagement, and opportunity.”  

    Professor Anne Sinnott said,
