Student Conduct
The purpose of the Student Code of Conduct and Discipline, Student Charter, and the University Disciplinary Committee is to facilitate a safe and supportive environment for all members of the DCU community. All students are required to observe the Code of Conduct at all times within the University, outside it if representing the University, and on all other occasions when they are identifiable as students at the University. Observing the Code entails respecting the rights of others and showing them due courtesy and respect. Students are also required to observe all other regulations of the University and to conform to all such regulations as may be made from time to time for the good governance of the University.
If the Code is breached, then disciplinary procedures are normally invoked. Accordingly, students who are in breach of a university regulation may be asked to present themselves to the University’s Disciplinary Committee (DC). The DC will decide upon an appropriate course of action in line with its Terms of Reference as contained within the Student Code of Conduct and Discipline.

To help you understand the relationship that exists between you and the University, Student Support and Development have created the DCU Student Charter in close liaison with the Students’ Union. It is designed to provide a framework that will help steer you along your DCU journey and make the most of your university experience.
By registering for a programme in the University a student undertakes to behave in a manner consistent with the achievement of this mission and this includes accepting the rights and responsibilities of membership of the University community. To effectively manage disciplinary matters as they relate to students the University employs a formal Student Code of Conduct & Discipline. The code provides for a Disciplinary Committee (DC) who deal with such matters.
