Blockchain Scalability
As technology continues to advance at an unprecedented pace, it is important for individuals to stay informed and knowledgeable about the latest innovations. One emerging technology that has gained significant attention in recent years is distributed ledger technology, which encompasses blockchain and smart contract architectures. Distributed ledger technology holds immense transformative potential across multiple industries by offering heightened security, transparency, and efficiency in record-keeping and transaction processes. Under this umbrella term fall revolutionary systems like blockchain and smart contracts. These pioneering solutions have the capacity to revolutionize various sectors through their ability to enhance security levels while simultaneously providing unparalleled transparency and operational effectiveness when it comes to managing records or conducting transactions
In this micro-credential, we will delve into diverse implementation approaches and acceleration techniques to comprehensively understand their impact on energy cost and throughput. This evaluation will be conducted with regards to the ledger size and transaction rate. We will thoroughly investigate the resources required for compromising the ledger or subverting the contract across different distributed ledger, smart contract, and blockchain approaches that are currently in existence or have been proposed. By exploring various implementation strategies and assessing their energy cost and throughput characteristics under varying conditions of ledger size and transaction rate, we can gain valuable insights into which approaches offer optimal performance while minimizing resource consumption. Additionally, analysing potential vulnerabilities in existing as well as proposed distributed ledgers provides a crucial understanding of security risks associated with these technologies.
A Primary Honours degree, Level 8 in Electronic/Electrical/Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Sciences or other Cognate/Engineering Disciplines. Applications are also invited from diverse educational and/or employment backgrounds, with applications evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
