Long Grass Lounge: Connecting Homelessness
(Touring Multi- Arts Venue) 2011
St Vincent De Paul, NT, Australia.
A multi-arts initiative- a touring Arts Venue, aimed to encourage work of artists, musicians, performers and writers from marginalised communities, by providing them with a space to host their work. The Lounge itself was an installation piece, created by members of the Aboriginal, homeless community and local schools and was representative of the ingenuity that lies at the heart of necessity. The overall aim was to provide a space, which would stimulate dialogue amongst guests and encourage a break down in any misconceptions of homelessness as well as demonstrate positive ways in which homeless people can make a living through the arts. Long Grass lounge was invited to many fundraising events and festivals around NT.
Role: Community Arts Co- ordinator.
