School of Law and Government congratulates Dr. Roderic O`Gorman and three of our alumni on getting elected as TDs
We in the School of Law and Government salute our colleague Roderic O'Gorman who was elected Green Party TD for Dublin West in the general election. Roderic has been a lecturer in EU Law at DCU since 2012 and has been the Director of our BA in Economics, Politics and Law degree for a number of years. He first contested the constituency of Dublin West in 2007 and his perseverance paid off on Saturday when he was elected having received over 4,900 votes on the first count. Ultimately transfers saw Roderic elected on the sixth count and he will take his place in the 33rd Dáil in two weeks time. Roderic is the first ever DCU employee to win a seat in Dáil Eireann. We are all immensely proud of Roderic. He has been a superb lecturer and researcher and leader of our EPL programme and will no doubt be an equally superb TD. We wish him well in his new endeavours.
The general election saw three of our alumni elected. Helen McEntee who graduated with a BA in Economics, Politics and Law was elected for Fine Gael in Meath East. Duncan Smith who is a graduate of our MA in International Security and Conflict was elected for Labour in Dublin Fingal. Eoin O'Broin who is a graduate of our MA in International Relations was elected for Sinn Fein in Dublin Mid West. We are very proud of them all and again wish them all well in the next Dáil.
