BCL, EPL and JH graduates offered Graduate Law Mentorship Programme
The School of Law and Government (in conjunction with the Alumni Office and the Careers Service) organise and run the Graduate to Graduate Law Mentorship Programme, which is the first official Graduate to Graduate Mentorship Programme in Dublin City University.
This mentorship initiative, which includes graduates from the Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL), Economics, Politics and Law (EPL) and Joint Honours (JH) degrees is based on the ‘3 cups of coffee’ programme and requires mentors and mentees to meet on three separate occasions over a seven month period. It aims to establish a graduate network of support between mentors and mentees, to provide encouragement and advice on various aspects of the legal profession, including the pathway to qualifying as a solicitor/ barrister (and Blackhall Place and King’s Inns entrance exams), as well as alternative employment opportunities and options for law graduates.
The duration of the programme is seven months (from September to April). The programme is flexible in terms of time commitments of graduates, but participants are encouraged to meet at least three times (either in person or via Skype). An Opening Ceremony takes place at the start of the programme where mentors and mentees have the opportunity to meet, and training/guidelines of the programme are provided. The programme concludes with a Closing Ceremony, where feedback is provided.
We welcome expressions of interest from all law (BCL, EPL and JH) graduates. For further information, please contact Dr. Aisling de Paor at aisling.depaor@dcu.ie
