Cornelia-Adriana Baciu Wins 2nd Position as Best Romanian Research Student in Europe
Cornelia-Adriana Baciu, a final year PhD Candidate in Politics and International Relations at the School of Law and Government, Dublin City University was runner-up at the Awards for Academic Excellence Abroad in the Category Best Romanian Research Student in Europe. The Academic Excellence Awards is a multidisciplinary competition organised by the League of Romanian Students Abroad (LSRS).
The ceremony took place at the University Politehnica of Bucharest on 8 January and opened with a message from the Romanian President Klaus Werner Iohannis. A total of eight finalists were vying for the "Best Romanian Research Student in Europe" category. The first prize was awarded to Dr Ovidiu Csilik, post-doctoral student in Automatic Analysis of Satellite Images at the University of Salzburg, Austria.
Cornelia was conferred the award for her academic merit and performances abroad. She is the founding Director of the Research Network European Security and Strategy, which she co-leads with Professor Delphine Deschaux-Dutard, University of Grenoble. The network is a collaboration of more than 40 researchers from 25 universities in Europe. Cornelia is also the co-founding Editor of Dublin Law and Politics Review. Her co-edited book entitled “Peace, Security and Defence Cooperation in Post-Brexit: Risks and Opportunities” published by Springer is forthcoming.
