INTO Special Education Conference
Keynote and workshops at INTO Special Education Conference given by School of Inclusive and Special Education
Over 400 delegates attended the INTO Special Education conference in St Patrick’s Campus on Saturday 11th February 2017. Dr Anne Looney, Executive Dean of the Institute of Education opened the conference. The keynote presentation was given by Dr Joe Travers, Head of School of Inclusive and Special Education entitled “ A New Approach to Supporting Pupils with Special Educational Needs”. He spoke about the new allocation model for special education resources and its implications in terms of principal and teacher leadership for inclusion. He made the case inter alia for mandatory CPD for teachers in specialist positions in the field of special and inclusive education. Workshops were given by Dr Fiona King on Collaborative teaching with the SEN team, Dr Anna Logan on the Special Needs Assistants Scheme and Tish Balfe on Autism.
