DCU President's Staff Recognition Awards
Professor James Kelly, Head of the School of History & Geography, has been honoured with a DCU President’s Award for Research, in recognition of his exceptional contribution to Irish historiography.
Described as one of the ‘pre-eminent historians of modern Ireland’, his work has illuminated many of the over-lapping political and social changes that characterised Ireland in the 18th and early 19th century.
In accepting the award, Professor Kelly spoke of his conviction that ‘if history is to strike a chord with people, it also has to interact with events that they are living with’.
