Ethics of Cybersecurity in Business

Gwenyth completed a part-time Masters degree in Healthcare Ethics & Law at the Royal College of Surgeons while working full time in one of Ireland's top Law firms in Data Protection and Medical Negligence. Before entering the legal profession, she acquired a strong business acumen while working as a Business Manager. Previous to this, Gwenyth graduated from the University College Dublin with a Bachelor of Science.

Gwenyth started her PhD in 2017. For the first three years of the four-year PhD program, Gwenyth worked as a Research Assistant on the CANVAS (Constructing an Alliance for Value-driven Cybersecurity) Project. As Research Assistant, Gwenyth led the development and creation of a state-of-the-art Reference Curriculum on Ethics and Cybersecurity, co-authored three chapters included in two published White Papers (found here) and co-authored a book chapter on ransomware attacks, ethical hacking and organisational responses to hacker engagements (found here). Gwenyth's PhD focuses on ethical issues that arise in cybersecurity in the business domain. Topics systematically analysed in her thesis include employing red teams to find and fix vulnerabilities in people and technology, attempting a botnet takedown in response to a DDoS attack and responding to ransomware attacks. Recently Gwen has become a Senior Information Security Advisor to the New Zealand government.
