Chloe Reyes
I have always wanted to become a nurse, as my mum is a nurse, and I took from her example, and I absolutely love it. It can be hard at times, but I find that it’s all worth it in the end. I chose to go to DCU as I wanted to experience life away from home and thought Dublin would be a great choice to start my new life!
The Faculty of Science and Health in DCU has excellent facilities, from the labs to the large lecture halls. The most unexpected thing I’ve encountered is how friendly everyone is on campus. DCU has a great student atmosphere, and I feel like I’ve made amazing friends! I have enjoyed my student life from going to the wide variety of clubs and societies to the cheeky rounds of pool in Nubar. I can say I have been living my student dream.
A rewarding path forward
I would highly recommend intellectual disability nursing, as I find it very rewarding to work in the community, getting to know individuals with intellectual disabilities and helping them live their lives to the fullest.
DCU has changed me for the better and has helped me find who I am as a person. I’ve met my friends for life and they always help me out when I’m not in the greatest spot. After I graduate, I’m thinking of furthering my studies or starting working. My definitive plan is still in the works, but I hope to find out soon.
