LGBTQIA+ Pride 2024 at DCU

LGBTQIA+ Pride 2024 at DCU

A message from DCU President Professor Dáire Keogh

June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate the diversity that enriches and strengthens our University community.

At DCU, our dedication to open and inclusive values fuels our mission ‘to transform lives and societies.’ We cannot truly deliver on that objective unless our University is a safe and welcoming environment where everyone can thrive, regardless of their identity, gender, or orientation.

Pride Month is a busy time for us at DCU, with an excellent programme of events. I am delighted to see DCU will be officially represented in this year’s Dublin Pride Parade for the first time. I also warmly welcome the launch of Pride+, a new staff network for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies.

The creation of the network sends a clear signal that, for the DCU community, Pride is not just for June but is a year-round commitment. Pride+ is founded on the idea that “Diversity Connects Us”. For me, this is a reminder of the ancient wisdom of the Irish proverb “Ní neart go cur le chéile”. Indeed, we are stronger together.

Wishing you a Happy Pride Month,

Dáire
