Biography
Diane Wolfthal, Minter Chair Emerita in the Humanities at Rice University, specializes in late medieval and early modern European art. Her interests include feminist and gender studies, Jewish Studies, the history of sexuality, technical art history, and the study of the intersection of money, values, and culture.
Her books include: Picturing Yiddish: Gender, Identity, and Memory in the Illustrated Yiddish Books of Renaissance Italy (Brill's Jewish Studies); In and Out of the Marital Bed: Seeing Sex in Renaissance Europe; Household Servants and Slaves: A Visual History, 1300–1700; and Medieval Money, Merchants, and Morality.
