Robert Sadleir
Dr
Dr Robert Sadleir completed his undergraduate studies and postgraduate research at Dublin City University where he was awarded BEng and PhD degrees in Electronic Engineering. During the period 1997 to 1999, he worked in research and development for the 3Com Corporation (which was subsequently acquired by Hewlett-Packard). In 2000, he joined the staff of the School of Electronic Engineering, Dublin City University where he is currently employed as a lecturer. His duties in the School are primarily in the areas of research, teaching and administration. His research interests include biomedical image analysis, medical informatics and 3D computer graphics with applications in biomedicine; his teaching deals mainly with software development for a range of different applications from embedded systems to medical image visualisation; and his administrational duties relate mainly to the chairing of DCU's BEng degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering. Dr Sadleir has published over 40 peer reviewed papers. He has co-edited four books and co-authored two book chapters. He has acted as a reviewer for several international journals as well as a number of national and international conferences. He has received best presentation prizes on two occasions and he has also been invited to speak at a number of international conferences. Dr Sadleir is a member of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland (IEI), the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), Irish Pattern Recognition and Classification Society (IPRCS), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He is also a member of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS).
