Presentation for the OECD to the Moroccan Ministry in Rabat

On Tuesday 5th August, Audrey Doyle from the School of Policy and Practice in conjunction with the OECD, gave a presentation to the Moroccan Ministry to help them develop a teacher training module on student assessment in secondary education.  The presentation offered an overview of how students are assessed in post-primary education in Ireland and how training programmes prepare teachers.  The assessment changes experienced in Ireland due to the Junior Cycle reform and the process of Calculated Grades/Accredited grades engaged by teachers since 2020 was presented.  The experience of training teachers in the role of assessors in the Bachelor of Religious Education with the elective English, Music and History in DCU was offered as an example of how the dualistic approach to assessment, both formative and summative, is an important element of building teacher identity.
